Biography
PhD in Molecular Biology by Universidad Autonoma de Madrid (1994). Postdoctoral training in ABA signaling in Dr. Erwin Grill’s laboratory, ETH (Zurich)-TU (Munich). In 1998, he joined the laboratory of Dr. Ramon Serrano at UPV (Valencia) to study plant abiotic stress response. Senior researcher at the IBMCP (CSIC-UPV), interested in the role of ABA receptors, phosphatases and kinases in ABA signaling and their biotechnological potential to improve plant tolerance to drought and adaptation to climate change in agriculture. His group has recently become interested in developing genetic approaches and synthetic molecules acting as ABA receptor agonists to cope with water deficit in crops.
